"Biga Sanjak; Troy is here and extends to the strait. There are many castles here, and it is an important sanjak because everything is abundant... Those who say that the Turks are descendants of the Trojans say the following: After the terrible destruction of Troy, a part of the Trojans took the path of Ponende, that is, Antenore and Enea. Many went to other regions of Asia, and a large crowd among them settled in the regions of Cilicia and Karaman with their women and children. The Greeks, being aware of this, decided to massacre them. Hearing this, the Trojans became very afraid and decided to flee those lands as soon as possible. But among them, an old man named Turk gathered all the Trojans and made the following speech: "My dear brothers, I think you all got scared when you heard that the Greeks are coming to destroy us with a strong army, and you think we should go to other places today. The feet of our mothers and children have worn out from wandering the world. We came here with difficulties, and there are many brave men among us. I want to persuade you to prefer dying rather than scattering here and there. I think it is necessary to choose a brave, prudent, and characterful person among us as our bey and obey him. As if we have been the owners of our region since ancient times. Thus, with his good governance and the advice we will give each other, we will achieve victory and not scatter here and there." These words pleased all the people, and they chose this old man named Turk as their bey. Because of their bey's name, they were called Turks.
At the end of the war with the Greeks, the Turks won the victory. Later, they regrouped and attacked again, inflicting great losses on the Greeks and capturing all of Karaman. The country of Karaman also got its name from one of the sons of this old man, named Karaman. It is said that the Turks living here later spread throughout Asia, or that the Ottomans came from the descendants of these Turks in Karaman, or from other Turks who spread throughout Asia from their lineage."
